Conferencia de Jóvenes
The end of a year and beginning of another went off without a hitch here in Ecuador. A three-day youth conference marked the end of the year at Camp Bellevue. Teens from the Cayambe and Quito Church of Christ were invited out for a weekend together in Christ. These teens spent the weekend in discussions, dramas, activities, and prayer focused upon overcoming the obstacles of youth in Ecuador by uniting together in Christ. Night activities included a challenging game of capture the fag and a bonfire devotional. What an awesome experience for the teens in Cayambe and us as well. The conference was organized and directed by Rodolfo (QSBS intern) and Jhon (Cayambe minister) who were assisted by a couple of students and workers from the Quito School of Biblical Studies.

History and Location
Truly, I have not heard of any congregation taking on a foreign mission project such as a camp as a starting object. Yes, some of the Lord’s congregations in foreign countries are owners or stewards of camps, but really only after the congregation was started. And, yes, in the days prior to having sufficient financial support talking to various congregations soliciting support, it was clear that there were very few individuals who thought it would be successful. But just think back, how many of us who have grown up in Christian families were baptized in a camp? I would like to say the majority, and they will count camp experiences as some of the most memorable ones of their lives. So why should it not work in Ecuador, or any other country?
